About Me

About Dr. Robert T. Jones IV

I am a licensed psychologist in private practice at the Behavioral Institute of Atlanta in Sandy Springs, Georgia. For more than twenty years, I have worked with adults and developmentally capable adolescents who are seeking thoughtful, effective psychological care—often after realizing that insight alone, or prior attempts at therapy, have not fully resolved what they are facing.

People come to see me for many reasons. Some are navigating anxiety, mood concerns, attentional difficulties, or major life transitions. Others are managing performance pressure, identity questions, or long-standing internal patterns that have begun to limit their effectiveness or satisfaction in life. Many are high-functioning individuals or families who take their responsibilities seriously and are looking for psychological work that reflects the same level of care and discernment.

My approach is integrative and individualized. I do not practice from a single model or apply a standard protocol. Instead, I draw from multiple psychological traditions, guided by careful assessment, clinical judgment, and an understanding of how change actually occurs. The work is collaborative and focused, with attention to both insight and application. My goal is not simply symptom relief, but increased clarity, flexibility, and the ability to move forward with greater confidence and self-trust.

I work with adolescents who are developmentally ready to engage in reflective, goal-oriented psychological work. This often includes young people navigating academic demands, competitive environments, or increasing expectations as they move toward greater independence. When working with adolescents, parental involvement is intentional and clearly defined, supporting both growth and autonomy.

In addition to my clinical practice, I have been appointed by the Governor to serve on the Georgia Board of Examiners of Psychologists. I am licensed to practice psychology in Georgia and Florida and am authorized to provide telehealth services in more than forty states through PSYPACT.I maintain a deliberately structured practice that allows for continuity of care and focused attention. This is not a high-volume model, nor is it designed for crisis stabilization. It is best suited for individuals and families who are ready to engage seriously in the work.

My aim in working with clients is straightforward: to help you understand what is getting in your way, address it effectively, and return to living with greater alignment, confidence, and purpose.

Is This a Good Fit?

My practice is best suited for adults and adolescents who are willing to engage thoughtfully in the therapeutic process and who value depth, clarity, and meaningful change. Most people I work with are motivated, reflective, and prepared to take an active role in their work.

This approach tends to work well for individuals and families who are seeking more than quick reassurance or short-term solutions, and who appreciate a structured, collaborative process grounded in careful clinical judgment. This work assumes a shared commitment of time, attention, and resources from both client and clinician.

If you believe this style of work may be a good match for you or your adolescent, I invite you to reach out to discuss next steps.
